~Mama Blessing Ceremony~
A Navajo (Dine’) fertility rites or “Blessingway”, is a ritual used to bless the mother in order to ensure good luck, good health, and good hope. Out of respect for the Navajo people, I have chosen instead to call my ceremony a Mama Blessing.
Cultures the world over use ceremony as a way to mark significant life transitions and sacred rites of passage. They provide an opportunity for the initiate to gather strength, support, and insight for the journey that lies ahead.
In our hurried lives, I believe, we’ve lost sight of how powerful ceremony can be. A Mama Blessing is an intentional gathering with friends and family to share stories, dance, sing, pray, and make sacred again this special time. A time to honor yourself as a woman and mother about to bring new life through you into the world.
Some of the rituals that I may incorporate into your ceremony are:
Belly Casting Foot Bath/Mama Massage Belly Painting (with henna) Birth/Mama Art Bead Ceremony Ribbon/Candle Prayer Circle Birth Bundle Sacred Storytelling
Mostly, I listen to your needs and will customize a ceremony that is right for you. This ceremony is often followed by a grounding feast, where a potluck can be especially nice.
This mother-centered baby shower makes the perfect gift!
